Parents are in the best position to positively impact their child’s speech, language, and communication development. Particularly for children under age three, giving parents evidence-based strategies to employ in their everyday interactions can be a powerful tool to increase children’s communication.
I am certified to run three parent training programs developed by the Hanen® Centre, including:
- It Takes Two to Talk (for parents of children with speech and language delay)
- More Than Words (for parents of children on the Autism Spectrum)
- Target Word (for parents of children who are late talkers)
Parent training can occur in a group setting or in individual settings. I teach parents strategies to help target and improve their children’s speech, language, and communication and then provide coaching, feedback, and check-ins to ensure that they feel comfortable implementing these strategies effectively.
