A thorough and comprehensive evaluation is essential to setting meaningful and attainable goals in treatment.
I assess pediatric clients using Dynamic Assessment. Over four to six sessions, a combination of informal assessment, standardized tests, and parent report are used to establish a client’s communication profile including areas of strength and weakness. As areas of weakness are found, different treatment/remediation strategies are probed during the assessment period to see what techniques will be most effective to address that skill. The information gathered during these strategic trials is used to write more personalized and targeted goals for the client.
A standard evaluation includes establishing baseline skills across several communication domains:
- Receptive Language
- Expressive Language
- Social/Pragmatic Language
- Motor Speech/Oral Motor Functioning
I am also trained and experienced in other, more specialized evaluations including:
- Augmentative and Alternative Communication Needs (including high-tech devices)
- Feeding
The cost of an evaluation includes regular session rates for four to six Dynamic Assessment sessions and a longer meeting to go over the evaluation results and potential treatment plan. Report writing is included in cost of meeting. Diagnosis and procedure codes will be included on any reports as required for insurance reimbursement.
